Hello Fellow CAP Members,

At recent meetings, members of the IDD Committee have discussed a partnership with the Change Makers, a group of students from the University of Pittsburgh, who are seeking to aide and abet positive changes in our community.  The Change Makers can offer a variety of modalities to help organizations or causes to get their message out and may include media platforms and/or available venues for live events.

We were fortunate to have a meeting with the Change Makers and discussed CAP’s main platform topic;  Workforce.  Some preliminary thoughts include one or two videos that would feature CAP member staff, people served and activities.  We would hope that the videos would begin filming in May (next month) and appear as a prelude to a live event to be held on the Pitt campus in this fall.

Lots still to work out with the Change Makers including the creative content, what the live event will look like and consist of, and, how CAP and our members can use these tools to further our shared mission.

What can you do?  Denise Cavanaugh is taking the lead in communicating with Change Makers.  With filming to begin in May, we need information from you rather quickly. Which agencies would like to be part of the filming?  Can you recommend staff and/or clients who can be interviewed/provide testimonials?  Are there events pending that would showcase the great work that is done?   We hope to paint a positive view of rewarding careers in helping change the lives of the people we serve.  During this we also hope to introduce those we serve in what may be a new light:  resilient, hopeful, capable and worthy.

At this time, I’m sorry that we can’t be more specific, but thought it would be beneficial to give you a heads up to start considering how/if you want to participate.  You can contact Denise or me with your questions or nominations.

Very exciting! Looking forward to hearing from you.  More to come……
